Marysvale Free Lance
1902 - 1904
Josiah F. Gibbs, publisher of The Free Lance, wrote in the first issue, dated September 5, 1902: "This issue of the Free Lance will find its way if possible, into the home of every family in Piute County, and a large number in Wayne County. It will be sent to you for a month, and if in the meantime, you don't want it, just send a post card, and that one cent will be all this paper will cost you to October 1." The weekly newspaper suspended publication July 29-September 30, 1904 and ceased with the November 4, 1904 issue. Two other newspapers published in Piute County and included in this web site are the Piute Chieftain (Marysvale, Utah) and Piute County News (Junction, Utah).
