Union Vedette The first daily paper in the Utah Territory was published at Camp Douglas. From June 11, 1864:
"This paper was established and has been conducted as to its typographical execution and otherwise, by soldiers - men thoroughly competent in their business., and that short of active service in the field they cannot better subserve the cause of their country than by thus devoting their time, talent, and energy to the objects above set forth, viz. the propagation of loyal sentiment and the development of a regenerated Utah!"
The Utah Digital Newspapers Program would like to extend its most sincere thanks to the Salt Lake City Public Library for the loan of their original newspapers for the creation of this collection.
