The Tooele County Chronicle began publication on June 6, 1947 and ran until 1951. Frank S. Beckwith was the owner and publisher. The first issue stated: "We (the Beckwith's) have owned and operated the Chronicle at Delta, Utah, since January 1919. During that time we have built up what we consider a good paper and one that stands second in the state of Utah for circulation per capita...The Tooele County Chronicle is owned by Frank S. Beckwith. There are no other owners, silent partners, stockholders or anyone with any interest in the venture other than Mr. Beckwith...Mrs. Athena Beckwith Cook will be the managing editor of the Tooele County Chronicle, with a small office in the Ken Bates Appliance store.
We extend our thanks to the Millard County Chronicle-Progress for the loan of the original newspapers for scanning.
