Deseret Farmer

1908 - 1909

Andreas Widtsoe, a native of Norway, and two colleagues at the Utah State Agricultural College in Logan Utah, founded the Deseret Farmer in 1904. The weekly promised to bring important information to every agriculturalist in the state, without the "controversies of a religious or political nature." After moving to Provo, Widtsoe helped establish the department of agriculture at Brigham Young University while continuing to manage the Deseret Farmer. The Deseret Farmer became the official newspaper of various agricultural and dairy associations. Read more.
