Corinne Daily Reporter

Judge Dennis Toohy, editor of the Reporter in 1872, planned to close the paper, move to Salt Lake City and launch a new publication called the Gentile Sun. But as the Salt Lake Herald reported on April 4 of that year, "Judge Toohy writes us to discontinue the advertisement of the Gentile Sun, as that Sun enterprise has set, the merchants of Corinne, having in mass meeting subscribed a sufficient bonus to have the Reporter continued. Mr. Aulbach, who had bought into the new paper on condition that the office was to be moved to this city...retires from the engagement, leaving Judge Toohy sole proprietor and editor as before."

We extend our thanks to the Church History Library of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the loan of the original newspapers for scanning.
